LISTEN BACK: Cllr Brian McKenna on 'glitch' that hit Monaghan roads funding

The €2.5m that was allocated to the Clontibret to the Border scheme, and the €600,000 provided for the Ardee to Castleblayney upgrade by Transport Infrastructure Ireland has hit a glitch.

This week's meeting of Monaghan County Council heard that the "devil is in the detail" on the funding after councillors learned that it won't be allocated unless additional funding is approved by the EU.

Cllr Brian McKenna spoke to the Wider View about what he described as a "totally unacceptable" development. He began by explaining the joy that was initially experienced when the TII funding was announced two weeks ago.
