The €2.5m that was allocated to the Clontibret to the Border scheme, and the €600,000 provided for the Ardee to Castleblayney upgrade by Transport Infrastructure Ireland has hit a glitch.
This week's meeting of Monaghan County Council heard that the "devil is in the detail" on the funding after councillors learned that it won't be allocated unless additional funding is approved by the EU.
