"Financial help is needed to secure our future and ensure our survival." That's according to Christine Wynne who is the the branch coordinator of SOSAD Cavan and is also part of the senior management team. SOSAD Cavan has provided almost double the number support sessions as it did in 2023 as it did four years ago and has already seen an increase of 48% so far this year of people needing the service.
SOSAD is located in a number of locations across the Northern Sound region, with offices in Cavan and Monaghan Town as well as sub offices in Mullagh and Carrickmacross. Despite its continued success, Christine is "fearful" over the future of the service which receives no government funding. Jodie Curran spoke with Christine who recently visited Leinster House in a plea for additional funding believes something must be done by government before it's too late:
