A Cavan native who has been described as a true pioneer for women's rights in New Zealand will be honoured with a Blue Plaque this weekend.
The Ulster History Circle will commemorate Margaret Scott Hawthorne during the unveiling ceremony at the Killeshandra Church of Ireland, this Saturday at 2pm.
Blue Plaques are erected throughout Ulster to honour those who have contributed to the province's history, and Local Minister Heather Humphreys will unveil the plaque.
The New Zealand Ambassador to Ireland, Mr Brad Burgess, will also attend.
Margaret Scott Hawthorne was born in Cornafean in 1869, but set sail for New Zealand in 1880.
She's receiving the honour for work to advance women's rights in New Zealand and for her tireless efforts to improve the working conditions for women.
