A new book written by a Cavan grandmother tells kids today what it was like growing up in an Ireland where children roamed the countryside during long, hot summer days and picked blackberries in the autumn.
Ann O'Donoghue from Swellan has created the characters for "Orla, Mary and a Monster Called Seán" with her own grandchildren in mind.
Like so many grandparents she laments the amount of time children spend on phones and tablets today and wanted to show them in a fun way that not so long ago, childhood was simpler and more enjoyable.
