The proposed 'Access to Cash Bill' is a major victory for the people of the Northern Sound region according to Aontu's Gráinne McPhillips.
The Ballinagh native is is the party's candidate for the Ballyjamesduff LEA says that cash is legal tender and will always be king. The Bill, being brought to Cabinet by the Minister for Finance, Michael McGrath, which will see cash retain its place in society, has been heralded as a win for 'people power and common sense' by the local teacher and Aontu's candidate in the upcoming election in the Balljamesduff Munipical district.
Aontú has long campaigned against a move toward a cashless society, something Ms McPhillips believes would heavily exclude vast numbers of our population. Ronan Gargan been speaking to the Aontu representatives and i started by asking Grainne how important is this move by the government.
