Monaghan County Council will write to the National Transport Authority seeking an increase in their annual funding allocation for the Active Travel Scheme. The matter was raised by Sinn Fein's Sean Conlon at the most recent local authority meeting.
Since the Active Travel Scheme was introduced approximately four year ago, funding has been "inadequate" towards rural counties like Monaghan according to Cllr Conlon. Jodie Curran spoke with him in relation to the matter:
