Stiofán Conaty (the newly-elected councillor in Cavan) has wasted no time turning his attention to the lack of rural services.
There used to be a doctor in Ballyhaise Health Centre. However, there was a reduction in services to just two mornings a week before the loss of services altogether.
The HSE currently use the building for administrative work; but Cllr Conaty has asked Cavan County Council to ask the executive to clarify their long-term intentions.
Stiofan Conaty told Zoe Tunney the population of Ballyhaise, Belturbet and Redhills justifes its own GP and wants to see a doctor back in the health centre, which was originally built for that purpose.
