Stiofán Conaty, the newly-elected councillor in Cavan has wasted no time in turning his attention to rural services or the lack thereof.
There used to be a doctor in Ballyhaise Health Centre but services were reduced to just two mornings a week before eventually beoing lost altogether.
The HSE currently use the building for administrative work but Cllr Conaty has asked Cavan County Council to ask the executive to clarify their long-term intentions.
Stiofan Conaty told Zoe Tunney the population of Ballyhaise, Belturbet and Redhills justifes its own GP and wants to see a doctor back in the health centre, which was originally built for that purpose.
