President of the IFA, Frank Brady, says bad weather has pushed farmers in the Cavan-Monaghan area to "crisis point".
Mr Brady, who originally comes from Kerry where the climate is more favourable to farming, said the problems for farmers here are three-fold.
Animals were brought under shelter a month earlier last September and remain in sheds two extra months as we start into April which means stporage capacity issues for farmers who expect to put their cattle to grass in Februray.
If cows are allowed onto grass soaked with continuous rainfall now, local farmers run the risk of the damage caused by poaching.
Ronan Gargan spoke to the Ulster-North Leinster Regional Chairman for IFA.
