Northern Sound asked Eirgrid how much the company has spent on bringing the beleaguered north-south interconnector project to where it is today.
The company responded by saying to date, they have spent €42m on the project, which looks no closer to being started.
Eirgrid also said some of that massive spend is covered by passing the cost onto electricity customers. For almost 20 years, local farmers and landowners have objected to the cross-border 400 kilo-Volt interconnector cables being run overhead.
Cavan County Councillor Clifford Kelly has been part of the campaign against the interconnector. He gave Zoe Tunney his reaction to the costs involved.
