Minister for Education Norma Foley has announced that an that an Agreement in Principle has been reached for the acquisition of a 2.89-acre site and school building at Aughnakerry to provide a new permanent school for Gaelscoil Bhréifne.
Additionally, as part of the agreement, the vendor will construct a 4-classroom extension, for which planning permission has already been granted. Jodie Curran spoke with Deputy Niamh Smyth who welcomed the news stating that this is "brilliant news" for this fantastic school in the heart of Cavan Town:
