Senator Robbie Gallagher raised ambulance delays and emergency response times in this region in the Seanad this week. He says Minister Peter Burke confirmed to him that additional personnel will be provided to the Cavan Monaghan region in the first quarter of this year.
Meanwhile, it emerged last month that it took 5 hours and 14 minutes for an ambulance to arrive for an emergency call to a location in Monaghan last year. This particular wait time represents the 15th longest wait in the country last year.
The longest wait in Cavan last year was 4 hour and 59 minutes for an ambulance and 155 people waited over an hour for an ambulance across Cavan and Monaghan during 2022. Speaking to the Wider View, Senator Gallagher highlighted how the situation was "not good enough". But first, he began by pointing out how the matter has been raised many times over the last few months.
