Monaghan County Council has confirmed that it plans to build 206 social houses in the county in 2023 and 2024. 19 homes will be built in the Ballybay-Clones Municipal District; 82 in the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD; and 81 homes are earmarked for the Monaghan MD.
Cathaoirleach of the Monaghan Municipal District, Cllr Sean Conlon, told the Wider View this week that more homes are needed because there are 500 people on the housing list in north Monaghan, alone.
But first, he began by sharing his thoughts on the housing crisis.
