There is a new campaign that has been launched by Mental Health Ireland and there is specific goal for this region within this campaign.
It’s called One Million stars to End Violence… and it is looking at violence both physical and emotional, but also some of the violent rhetoric that has slipped into daily life nowadays.
There are lots of local groups involved across Cavan and Monaghan including :
A group of key partners have come together, including Mental Health Ireland, Tearmann Domestic Violence Service, NCCWN - Dochas for Women, FOCUS Family Resource Centre, Monaghan Co Co – Asylum, Migrant and Immigrant Fund Project, Cavan CLD /SICAP, Monaghan CYPSC, NCCWN - Blayney Blanes, Cavan Monaghan Arts & Health Forum, Men’s Sheds.
Local groups will come together to weave stars with an aim for 10,000 stars to be created in this region alone.
Miffy Hoad is the Development Officer with Mental Health Ireland for Cavan and Monaghan and she has been giving Sheila Naughton the background to this campaign and where it originated.
