HEAR MORE: Monaghan councillor says its 'unspeakable' some people can't access public sewer system

In a joint motion at a recent Monaghan MD meeting, Raymond Aughey, Seamus Treanor, David Maxwell, and Paudge Connolly called on the council to investigate a services land initiative for the Clones and Ballinode Roads close to Monaghan Town.

The motion seeks to enable residents on these roads to connect to the public sewers, and to allow for future development on these roads.

The councillor has called for this report to be presented to the MD for consideration on how to proceed.

David Maxwell told the meeting that he got a costing of €5 million for these works, and says a "succinct plan" would allow the MD to lobby for funding.

Elsewhere, Seamus Treanor says residents of these roads have been fighting with this issue for over seven decades.

Paudge Connolly says it's unspeakable that residents don't have access to the public sewer system, and he spoke to our reporter Diarmuid Pepper about the issue:
