It's been a long and tiresome wait for many families and residents of nursing homes.
But today homes across the country were allowed to welcome some family and friends back to visit their loved ones.
Mary Wright the Director of Nursing with Castlemanor Nursing Home in Cavan has been speaking about the preparation gone into today and how it is a very welcome step.
