No fines issued for dog fouling in Cavan in 2024. A local councillor has raised the plight of dog fouling in towns and villages across the region.
Cllr Clifford Kelly brought a motion about the scourge of dog fouling in the local area to the most recent meeting of Cavan County Council.
He said it's terrible to see footpaths destroyed by dog fouling. Moreover, Cllr Kelly added that dog fouling is not just disgusting but dangerous. Furthermore, Cllr Kelly said it is not fair on the vulnerable in society. Indeed, this includes the likes of children, older people, people pushing buggies or a wheelchair user.
He said he doesn't know what the solution was to this very serious problem. However, something needs to be done and done fast.
The call comes as it was revealed that there was no dog fouling offences recorded in Cavan in either 2023 or 2024. Ronan Gargan has been speaking to the Kingscourt native about this concurring issue.
