New average speed cameras have been installed on a major road in Cavan. The new cameras measure a vehicles speed over a certain distance rather than at a fixed point. Moreover, the authorities have installed the cameras on the N3 between Kilduff and Billis in Cavan. Indeed, it is a high collision area.
They use Automatic Number Plate recognition to record the time, date, and location, and they issue a fine to anyone detected speeding. It is one of the first roads outside of Dublin to have this infrastructure installed alongside the N5 in Mayo.
