The HSE has indicated that it's putting measures in place to ensure that the retention of babies organs doesn't happen again. That's according to Cllr Colm Carthy who received confirmation on the matter from the health authority earlier this month.
The move comes on foot of a notice of motion that Monaghan County Council submitted to the HSE last December after local parents revealed the extent of their pain as a result of their babies organs being retained without their knowledge.
Speaking to the Wider View, Cllr Carthy said the HSE is already implementing procedures to ensure that regulations are adhered to. He added that parents have been hurt by medical practices in the past, and if it weren't for the bravery and courage of those who spoke on Prime Time last year, other parents would now be facing the same difficulties.
But first, he began by explaining how the local authority motion set the wheel of change in motion.
