The Hedgehog one of our most recognisable animals. Their Irish name ‘An Gráinneog’ means ‘little ugly one’. They are generally regarded with great fondness due to their cute appearance, quirky habits and their taste for eating garden pests.
People want to know if they have woken up too early from their winter hibernation and what about feeding them and enticing them to come into our gardens.
Elaine O’Riordan from the Zoology Department at NUI Galway and is involved with the Irish Hedgehog survey answered our hedgehog questions on Wednesday's show.
