A French couple came to live in their dream home in Glenamaddy, Co Galway, in 2004 - but the thatched cottage was ruined in a fire at the weekend.
Melanie and Jeremy, along with their nine-year-old son, Finn, have been staying with friends and family since then, but are overwhelmed with help from the community.
Melanie told her story on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning.
