In August 2016, Alan Hawe killed his wife Clodagh and their three sons at their home in Castlerahan before admitting to the deaths in a letter and taking his own life.

An inquest last month concluded that Clodagh, Liam, Niall and Ryan died unlawfully with a verdict of suicide for 40 year old Alan.

A report from Psychiatrist Professor Harry Kennedy, complied on behalf of the Coroner, showed evidence Alan Hawe was suffering severe anxieties and that he had “severe, invasive preoccupations” that were constantly troubling him.

A statement read on behalf of Mary Coll and her daughter Jacqueline Connolly – the mother and sister of Clodagh Hawe - said ''the inquest does not address why Alan committed this savagery'' and added that he (Hawe) ''was aware of his imminent fall from grace''

The CEO of St Patrick's mental health services Paul Gilligan spoke to Anne Norris on the Joe Finnegan Show on Thursday (broadcast 05/12)
