The majority of businesses that have been impacted by crime since January 2020 have been hit with financial costs of €47,000.
That according to a new survey by Netwatch on how crime affects Irish businesses.
Meanwhile, for five percent of those companies who were the victims of crime, the cost was in excess of €500,000.
The main concerns of businesses in terms of criminal activity, excluding cyber security, were burglary, vandalism, and fraud.
The survey was carried out to determine the type of crime, the costs, and the importance of security among Irish businesses.
Netwatch was established in and is headquartered in Carlow, and its Head of Business in Ireland and the UK, Colin Hayes, spoke to our reporter Diarmuid Pepper on the findings of the survey and what businesses can do to keep their premises safe:
