Recent research between irishjobs.ie and As I Am has revealed that 9 in 10 autistic people believe their autism makes it difficult to get a job.
The Autism in the Workplace Report also reveals that almost four in five autistic people face barriers to employment in Ireland.
Navigating job interviews, and outdated perceptions of autism are among two of the biggest barriers to employment for autistic people.
And while 85% of employers believe an autistic person could make a positive contribution in the workplace, only two percent of employers have availed of government supports or schemes toward recruiting and retaining autistic talent.
In light of this, Irish jobs dot ie and Autism charity As I Am are running a series of employer masterclasses and training programmes, which aims to deliver a tangible growth in the number of autistic people employed across Ireland.
