A local engineering company is celebrating 75 years in business with the opening of a picnic area that will be dedicated to the company's founders.
McAree Engineering, based in Ballinode, Co Monaghan, and founded by Vincie and Tessie McAree, has opened the new picnic area at the entrance to the Quiglough lake, a noted local fishing spot managed by Rossmore Coarse.
Access to Quiglough is now via a newly constructed pathway along which a landscaped flower bed run, that was carried out by local Landscape gardener John McCaghey.
Managing Director, Brendan McAree said he's "very proud to be part of the Ballinode Community and to have operated from the same site since his parents set up the business in 1946".
Meanwhile, CFO Claire McAree said the new picnic area is "a fitting memorial for a couple who contributed a lot to the social and community life in Ballinode and who were keen gardeners themselves.
