A businessman with Monaghan roots has been named chairperson of the Irish Venture Capital Association.
Leo Hamill, the managing partner of Investec, replaces Nicola McClafferty, who has completed her term of office.
Leo's father, Denis, was from the Clones Road just outside Monaghan town, while his mother, Mena, grew up in Tydavnet.
The Irish Venture Capital Association is the national representative organisation for venture capital and private equity firms in Ireland.
Mr Hamill has worked for 17 years in the venture capital industry.
He says he remains optimistic about the prospects for Irish start-ups looking to raise funding over the next few years despite "global uncertainties".
