People across the Northern Sound region are being urged to play their part in local government on National Your Council Day today. The Irish Environmental Network is encouraging community groups to join their local Public Participation Network (PPN), to advocate for green policies at local authority level. All roads lead to Carrickmacross Civic Offices where the local authority is showcasing the best of what Environmental Services has to offer along with colleagues from Heritage and Bio-Diversity.
This is taking place from 11am to 2pm. Members of the public will also get a chance to meet with the Litter Patrol Warden, Dog Warden and staff who will be available to answer any questions or queries they may have. They will also get the opportunity to see some upcycling projects using vintage material, furniture and household items with some giveaways as well. Catherine O'Toole of the Irish Environmental Network says joining a PPN gives you a voice in how your community it run.
