"It's of vital importance for young people to make sure they exercise their right to vote today." That's according to Caolan Faux who is the Director of Youth Work Ireland for Cavan/Monaghan. Speaking to Northern Sound, Caolan hopes that the extraordinary level of youth voter registration seen in recent years will be matched by a high level of youth voter turnout. He added that given the importance of each and every vote, it really is vital that young people from across both Cavan and Monaghan get out and vote today.
"The voice of young people is one of those voices that we know is missing from recent elections," he explained. "We're not getting the activation that we know is so important when it comes to young people who vote feeling ownership of how the country is run and also having that balance and voice when it comes to public representation. We want young people to feel empowered and to feel that they have something to say and they have something to contribute and we're very clear that what they have to contribute is very valid and very valuable."
