Ireland can expect to see more deaths as transmission of coronavirus continues to rise, according to the World Health Organisation.
It comes as the global death toll from the virus has reached 1 million people.
Figures from Johns Hopkins University show almost 5,000 deaths are reported globally each day.
The US accounts for just over a fifth of the global death toll at 205,000 - 1,802 people have died here in the Republic.
