Works are underway at Hope Castle and that surrounding area of Castleblayney.
Local Councillor Aidan Campbell has confirmed the local authority were working to tidy up the current derelict Hope Castle site.
He said he hopes to see the property full restored and to benefit the community, but for the moment this was about making it tidy and more presentable in the interim. The working crews on site are cleaning out the inside of the buildings following a number of smaller fires over the years within both buildings.

Monaghan County Council have employed a contractor to protect and conserve the surviving fabric of the historic buildings until sometime the money is available for a full refurbishment. Cllr Campbell says its good news for the area.
