Works underway at Black Island following Storm Eowyn damage

A local councillor has confirmed that work is underway at the Black Island at Lough Muckno in Castleblayney following Storm Eowyn.

Extensive damage was caused to the area which prompted the closure of the popular amenity.

Cllr Aidan Campbell says it's hoped the Black Island will be back open to the public in the coming days. He said the level of destruction at the local amenity was the worse he has ever seen.

Cllr Campbell said the news was also welcome for the people that attend the local parkrun which had been cancelled for the last few weeks due to the damage.
