A Fianna Fail candidate for Monaghan in the upcoming election has welcomed funding that will allow for a dangerous stretch of a local road to be addressed in the coming months.
Eamon Treanor highlighted in recent weeks an accident blackspot between Monaghan Mushrooms and Knockaconny on the N12. His calls followed a motorist leaving the road on the dangerous bend and turning over and dropping into the canal.
Eamon said that the driver of the vehicle was left trapped for up to 10 minutes. The local Fianna Fail candidate is delighted to hear that this dangerous 3km stretch of road network will be made much safer by this summer.
