Works on a Monaghan Town building which has been vacant for a number of years have cost the Council over €400,000 so far.
This fee includes the price of purchase, as well as the cost of renovations made to the building on the corner of Mill Street and the North Road.
At a recent Monaghan MD meeting, councillor Paudge Connelly commended works on replacing the building's sagging roof but asked who foots the bill and who are the owners of the site.
Head of Finance, John Murray, confirmed the building is owned by the County Council, who acquired the building using its compulsory purchase powers under the Derelict Sites Act.
He said there is still some work to be done on the building, and once this is complete, a decision will be made as to whether the Council will put the building up for sale or consider a different use for it.
