Works have commenced on the long-awaited upgrade of the Ballyjamesduff Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The development was confirmed yesterday afternoon by Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Cavan County Council.
The €25m investment promises a host of benefits for the Ballyjamesduff community including enhanced water quality, improved amenity value, and compliance with environmental regulations. This project also enables growth for the local economy with a greater capacity at the plant.
Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith has welcomed the progress saying this project represents a substantial investment, which will boost the area by enhancing the local environment, improving water quality and ensuring that wastewater is treated appropriately to meet regulatory standards. The local TD says this upgrade will be of huge benefit to the wider Ballyjamesduff area.
Cllr Trevor Smith says these upgrade works will allow for further investment in the town alongside allowing for the increasing number of housing units in the area.
