Works at Bailieborough Garda Station are to get underway next month.
The Minister for the Office of Public Works confirmed that construction will finally get underway at the long-awaited project.
December will mark one year since the Minister put the contract for the former National Irish Bank building in the town to tender.
The project was first announced in 2007, with the current building said to be unfit for purpose.
The proposed development will see the bank refurbished, with a three-storey extension added to the existing building.
Minister Heather Humphreys and Fianna Fail's Brendan Smith have welcomed the progress.
Bailieborough TD, Deputy Niamh Smyth says it will benefit the entire town.
