The Blacklion Tidy Towns committee is looking for more "workers and do-ers". For years now, a group of dedicated locals have undertaken all the jobs required for the annual Tidy Towns competition but, as a couple of members have stepped down after years of volunteering, their roles need to be filled to continue the good work.
Presently, the group has 12 regular members which includes new retirees to the west Cavan town and some Ukrainian refugees. Recognising that everyone these days lead busy lives, long-term member Ena McGinley said just a couple of hours' of volunteering can make a difference to Blacklion as a place to live.
She also stressed that while there is weeding, painting and general cleaning duties, the tasks are all very rewarding and being a member is like being part of a "come together while getting the work done". Anyone who wishes to get involved should log on to www.ivol.ie:
