Work is ongoing on the second phase of the Ulster Canal Regeneration Project.
It was announced in June 2018 that the second stage of the project would include restoring a section of canal at Clones and the construction of a new marina.
Work on the first phase of the canal restoration was complete late last year with the opening of a new floating jetty at Castle Saunderson.
Two years ago at an event in Clones it was announced the next phase of the project would begin.
This will include the restoration of a one kilometre section of the canal between Clones and Clonfad and the construction of a new marina close to the Canal Stores on the Cavan road.
A Spokesperson for Waterways Ireland told Northern Sound News that planning on the project is ongoing.
It says a commission to investigate sourcing of a sustainable water supply began last year and is expected to complete its work next month.
It also says a tender has been awarded for the drilling of investigatory wells as part of the study.
It's not yet known when construction work on the second phase of regeneration will begin.
