The planned greenways in Cavan will be a “gamechanger” for the county.
A number of projects are being developed, including one along the route of the old Sligo, Leitrim and Northern counties railway which will link with Enniskillen.
It’s hoped a network of such routes can be developed including those in Cavan town and along the Ulster Canal.
Work on the Cavan town greenway is expected to be complete by the end of the month.
It's running from Cavan General Hospital to Loreto Road and includes the construction of a three metre cycleway, fencing and drainage works.
It’s hoped it can then be extended from Carrickane to Butlersbridge and onward to the Ulster Canal at Castle Saunderson.
