Work is due to begin in the coming days to replace old water mains in Shercock.
Irish water says Shercock will have "a much improved water supply and water quality" from this summer onwards due to the works along the R187 Carrickmacross Road.
The project will also reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground.
Working in partnership with Cavan County Council, Irish Water will place around 800 metres of old cast iron water mains.
Farrans Construction will carry out the works, due for completion by August.
Traffic management will be in place to facilitate the works on the R187 Carrickmacross Road, and local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.
Customers may experience some short-term interruptions, but will be given a minimum of 48-hour notices prior to any planned water interruptions.
