The WoMeN’s Regional Caucus has been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious Innovation in Politics Awards in Europe. The annual Innovation in Politics Awards recognise creative projects from across Europe which break new ground to find innovative solutions for today's challenges. The WoMeN’s Regional Caucus beat off stiff competition to be selected as one of the 10 finalists in the democracy category. The winners will be announced at a gala event on 11 May 2023 at the Palace of Culture in Warsaw.
Chairperson of theWoMeN's Regional Caucus, and local councillor Carmel Brady said the WoMeN's Regional Caucus is the first-time women councillors from neighbouring counties have worked together to bring about change.
The innovative activities of the caucus show how female councillors from an entire region working collectively can make a difference for women in local politics, improve policy-making and strengthen local democracy, according to Cllr Brady.
The Cavan Chairperson also noted that it was "timely" that the regional caucus was shortlisted for this European award in advance of International Women's Day which takes place next week on Wednesday, March 8th.
