The woman who died in a drowning incident in Cavan last night has been named locally.
Natasha Core died in the incident in the Lough Gowna area at around 9pm yesterday.
It's understood Natasha Core, a mother of two in her 20s, had entered the water to rescue her son who had gotten into difficulty.
They had been at Swan Lake in the Gowna area yesterday evening.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the Coast Guard helicopter also responded.
Her body was found a short time later close to the shoreline. The boy, who's aged 9, was uninjured.
Her body was removed to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan for a post mortem.
It's understood they had been living in the Gowna area but were not originally from there.
The Parent's Association of local St Patrick's National School has said it's "with great sadness" that it learned of Natasha's death.
The group has passed on its condolences to her family and information on physiological services would be available from the group.
He was airlifted to hospital in Dublin for treatement.
