'Ruth Lawrence was arrested in South Africa on the 4th of October'

A Dublin woman arrested in South Africa as part of an investigation into a double murder in Meath will not fight against extradition to Ireland. 42-year-old Ruth Lawrence, is being held on an international arrest warrant, and appeared in court in South Africa yesterday.

Eoin O'Connor and Anthony Keegan were murdered in 2014, and were found wrapped in plastic sheeting and buried in a shallow grave in, Lough Sheelin. Crime Editor with the Sun Stephen Breen says this arrest in Africa comes after years of scrutiny by the Gardai.

"Following their murder, a huge investigation was undertaken trying to apprehend those involved in this case. As part of the investigation, Gardai focused their attention on a Dublin woman called Ruth Lawrence and her former ex partner.

"As a result of that investigation and a warrant being issued, Ruth Lawrence was arrested in South Africa on the 4th of October. She is now remanded in custody there and is awaiting extradition to Ireland," he added.
