Wild birds in Cavan and Monaghan are among 27 cases of the H5N8 strain of bird flu found in Ireland.
The Minister for Agriculture says birds such as the curlew, swans, geese and peregrine falcons have been affected.
Minister Charlie McConalogue says counties across the country have seen cases, including Donegal, Leitrim and Cork, as well as the Northern Sound region.
He says while four cases of the H5N8 strain have been found in wild birds in the Ballybay area, none have been recorded in captive birds or poultry in Monaghan.
