What alternative does Minister for Energy Eamon Ryan have for rural Irish homes after oil and gas boilers have been phased out?
This was the question, Cllr TP O’Reilly put to a meeting of Cavan County Council this week following an announcement by the Minister that "alternative" energy sources will be required in homes from 2025.
Cllr O’Reilly said people needed to know now what these alternative sources are so that they could start planning financially for that.
He added that rural areas would be hit hardest by the move.
"I want to ask the Minister for the Environment to outline alternative to oil and gas boilers which are being proposed to be phased out," he added.
Meanwhile, members agreed to write to Minister Ryan in an effort to shed some light on the situation.
