The popular Westenra Arms Hotel located in Monaghan Town has been sold. The local hotel was purchased from the McMcEnaney family by the Watters family, who are current owners of Monaghan Hire.
A statement issued from the McMcEnaney family stated; "The McEnaney Family are delighted to announce the sale of The Westenra Arms Hotel, Monaghan, to the Watters Family, headed up by Padraig Watters. The sale will complete in early December 2024, at which time the Watters Family will take over control of the hotel. We are delighted to have agreed a deal with Padraig & his family, who are in business in Monaghan town for the past 44 years. We can confirm that all employees will remain in employment. All bookings, deposits and vouchers will continue as normal and transfer to the new ownership."

The statement continued; "The McEnaney Family are honoured and privileged to have owned and operated The Westenra Arms Hotel for the past 22 years. As a family we have thoroughly enjoyed this journey. We want to say a special thank you to all Management & Staff, past & present, for their unwavering commitment, loyalty & service during the last 22 years. We also want to say thank you to all our suppliers, past & present, for their hard work and service during our time in the hospitality industry. We also want to say a heart-felt thank you to all our loyal customers for their support through the years. Finally, we want to wish Padraig & his family the very best of luck as they embark on this exciting journey in The Westenra Arms Hotel."
