A well-known singer says she appreciates the clarity Minister Heather Humphreys has given on social welfare payments for musicians and performers who are out of work due to the pandemic.
The Cavan-Monaghan TD came in for criticism for comments she made in the Dáil where she said some people should retrain or upskill as their jobs may never return.
The remarks were described as "insulting" by singer Brian Kennedy and others.
Minister Humphreys said this week that she is "very conscious" of the impact the pandemic has had on the entertainment industry and her comments were not intended to be interpreted that way.
Singer Luan Parle was among those to criticise the comments but she has thanked the clarity the Social Protection Minister has given this week.
