The decision to upgrade the existing N2 road between Castleblayney and Ardee has been welcomed by a local campaign group.
However, there are still concerns some concerns according to the N2 Concerned Citizens Group.
Monaghan County Council and Jacobs Consulting this week published the "Preferred Route Corridors" for the two sections of the route upgrade between Ardee and Castleblayney and Clontibret and the border.
If the current plans get the go-ahead, the southern section will see the upgrading of the existing N2 road while the northern section will see a new bypass of Monaghan town, Emyvale and Corracrin.
A new round of public consultations on the preferred routes will run until October 5th.
