The entire country will be impacted by weather warnings today, as Storm Darragh tracks towards the country. Status orange wind warnings will affect all counties along the Atlantic coast from 10 o'clock tonight, and Wicklow, Wexford and Waterford from midnight.
A status yellow alert for rain will come into place for 13 counties across the northern half of the country from 10 o'clock this morning - while a nationwide yellow wind warning will kick in at 3 this afternoon.
The RSA is advising road-users to take extreme care. Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says once the storm passes, conditions will improve: "A very wet day today with the heaviest of rain moving in this morning through the afternoon," Alan explained, "It will break up a little bit later but, then very heavy showers and then very strong winds will come after that with the strongest of the winds through this afternoon, this evening and into tonight. The strongest of the winds really moving in after 9pm."
