A status yellow rain and thunderstorm warning has been lifted by Met Eireann this morning. However motorist are still being advised to take care on the roads because of heavy overnight rain and the risk of damage caused by lightening.
Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather channel says we're facing into another week of unsettled conditions; "For much of the coming week we will be under the influence of the Atlantic, we'll have westly winds in the mixture of some bright sunny days along with outbreaks of rain at times swinging in from the west so it's a rather mixed picture still, there's no real sign of settled conditions which we would be expect to see during this time of the year."
Around 36 thousand homes, farms and businesses are without power this morning following widespread thunderstorms across the country. ESB Network crews are working to restore power to all customers in areas impacted by lightning related outages. Parts of the Midlands, West , Northwest and Southwest have been particularly impacted. Work is also being undertaken to repair damage to infrastructure caused by the bad weather.
