The forestry sector in Cavan/Monaghan is currently fighting for its survival.
According to Martina Conway of the Western Forestry Co-Op, the industry is at crisis point because planting and felling trees require licences that are taking years to be issued by the Department of Agriculture.
She says trade is gone and people are leaving the sector altogether.
Jobs are also being lost as a result.
Farmers who want to plant trees are waiting up to two years for a license.
