A stark warning that cyber crime is going to increase was issued at a recent Joint Policing Committee in Cavan.
Juvenile Liaison Officer in Louth Noel Loughran said that the more society moves towards cashless payment, the bigger the rise in cyber crime will be.
He added that many older people at the moment do not have access to cashless payment because they don't have smart mobile phones.
Mr Loughran said that in time those people will become more ofay with technology.
He said when that happens, cyber crime will rise dramatically.
